Elton John performed two "greatest hits" concerts at Madison Square Garden in New York City on October 20 & 21 2000, celebrating his career. The shows were recorded both nights and a "best of" compilation was released on video. A more complete version was released on DVD on October 8 2002

Due to the September 11 2001 tagedy in Manhattan, Elton John postpones his own concert until November 30 2001.

US CONCERT - The Concert For New York CityMadison Square Garden, New York City, NY

Elton John appears on stage at a show six weeks after the tragedy at the World Trade Center in Manhattan. The concert was organized by Sir Paul McCartney and the audience consisted of thousands of firefighters, police officers, survivors, families, and fans. The show lasted six hours and featured an all-star roster of music performers and actors.
After the show, celebrity items were put up for auction to benefit the victims, including Elton John's grand piano from the show and a guitar autographed by Bernie Taupin.
The show was released on CD on November 27 2001 and on DVD on March 12 2002.
