2002.05.17 Do You Use Elm?

Vex.Net is considering ceasing support for the Elm mail reader. The reason is that that we want to move our mailboxes from unix mbox format to the more efficient maildir format. "Maildir" format is easier to manage, uses less overhead, and is faster accessing on large mailboxes in most circumstances. However elm does not support any methods of accessing maildir boxes. We would like to encourage our few remaining elm users to consider switching to what has become known as elm's successor: mutt. If this change would affect you, please let us at support@Vex.Net know your views. Pine, mutt, imap and pop3 users are not affected. After some feedback: procmail can be used with maildir format, emacs gnus will work with maildir. Art Stretton also reports he found (as an elm user) that mutt has "all the same familar 'mail' keystrokes for saving and deleting", etc. There is no date set for the switch over yet; we are still planning a looking for more feedback.

Good Words
from our Clients

I first began using Vybe Networks, formerly Vex.Net, before the beginning of time, i.e. sometime in the 1990s.

They have hosted my websites and offered other services. Not only have I never had a problem, but their customer service is personal and responsive. And their prices are reasonable.

It may sound like a cliché to say that they are reliable, good and affordable. But that's exactly what they are.
