2003.07.08 Spamassassin leak and Spamc plug

In our ongoing efforts to solve the stability problems the our servers have been experiencing lately, we have moved some services temporarily to a new system. When the new system was brought up it couldn't cope with the backlog of mail being delivered to people who have enabled "spamassassin". In order to get things back to normal quickly we disabled spamassassin until the backlog was handled. So, if you are using spamassassin, you may see an unusual amount of untagged spam this morning. To help reduce the resources used by spamassassin we have switched to using spamassassin's "spamd" process. This change should be transparent to spamassassin users. The "spamassassin" program is now actually "spamc", which filters your mail through the spamd server, rather than starting a whole new spamassassin process for each message received. If you notice any problems with this new setup let support@Vex.Net know. If you don't know what spamassassin is, refer to the Vex.Net FAQ: http://www.vex.net/vexfaq/index.py?req=show&file=faq03.004.htp
