Helo command rejected

Sometimes your correspondents may not be able to send you email due to the error "Helo command rejected."  This is part of our spam protection.  the overwhelming majority of emails that are rejected with this error are spam.  Unfortunately, as with all effective spam controls, the odd piece of legitimate email gets caught in these filters.  This is referred to as a "false positive."  This happens when the sending mail server is mis-configured and claims to be a host that does not actually exist on the Internet.  There are a number of ways to deal with this:

 - The sender can fix his server.  Not always possible.
 - The sender can send their email through their ISP rather than directly.
 - The sender can change ISPs.

The first method involves system knowledge that most Internet users just don't have.  This suggestion is really directed at ISPs or large corporations with their own email servers that have not been configured correctly.  If your correspondent is in this category and do not know how to fix it please direct them to sales@Vex.com.  We would be glad to send one of our consultants out.

The second method by far is the most likely fix.  They need to direct their email client to send all email to their ISP.  Many large providers won't even allow you to send directly and that helps reduce the overall problem altogether.

The last suggestion is a last resort option.  If they are sending email through their ISP and it is bouncing with this error, they may just have to look for another ISP if their's cannot or will not fix the problem.  Naturally Vex.Net is happy to accept these clients.
