I have a need for this as well, and I generally use a resource like
Dejanews (http://dejanews2.dejanews.com/forms/dnq.html) for newsgroup
searching rather than doing the work locally. :-)

FWIW, the export should be easy, since Yarn has export commands to
both a folder and to an ASCII file (hit F1 when viewing the newsgroup
list). The import I don't know about...
