Hello all,

I finally got my news.dat file down to size without messing up the whole
program and it was relatively painless. <g>

What I did was to go into the news.dat file and see what groups all my
leftovers posts were from. Once I had that list, I edited the active file
in the yarn directory removing all those subs that I no longer read as
well as made sure that they were out of my newsrc file and score files.
Then I moved the news.dat file, in case this solution didn't work, and
downloaded my newsgroups and let yarn remake my news.dat file.
It worked perfectly and now when I mark my groups read, the news.dat file
is expired completely empty. Now I can expire the 999d when I remove a
group or just do the above if the file gets out of hand.

Hope that this helps those of you who want to trim down their news.dat
file.

Cheerfully,

Penny

Do you know what privacy is? If you do, then you'd better know that you
don't have it on the internet. You're just a databit with a $ sign attached.
