What do you mean 'directly'? Do you mean outside of YARN, in DOS
perhaps?

I have specified in CONFIG editor=c:\PC-WRITE\ed
and it calls my preferred editor, because I can't figure how DOS\EDIT
can "import" a text file, or clip-board.
I'm sure the Yarn utilities will be useful in protecting you from
touching what Yarn knows is needed to get your mail to its
destination.

Yes, I have just gone through this myself. It appears that one
has to first exit YARN, so that it packages the MESSAGE.SND and
REPLIES into the IOXR.ZIP reply file. Then you can start a second
new mail message, (wiping out the first MESSAGE.SND!) and this
2nd msg will be added to the reply packet, IOXR.ZIP upon exit.

This seems like an unnecessary step, this exiting. An Outbox,
in addition to the existing Inbox, would be - as in OLX-
a proper place to find these prepared mail messages. OLX also
has an export command which accomplishes the above .MSG to .REP
conversion without having to leave the olr program.

Then one can read the reply packet back in and re-edit individual
messages, just like any inbox mail.

You don't, why not write some batch file menu, after all it's
a DOS environment.

I would like an improvement how the editor= parm is handled
in CONFIG:

I tried editor=C:\PC_WRITE\ed %f /e
I got an error message from my editor that the filename is too long.
I fixed it by dropping the %f /e, but now my ED program never
goes directly into the file. You see, the PC_WRITE editor has
its options/switches *after* the <filename> parameter.
but I can't say editor=C:\PC_WRITE\ed /e ...
so the %f "placeholder" which is used for other commands would
be nice to have and then feed the /switches afterwards as variables
