Others have answered your question, but when I asked about decoding
multi-part MIME attachments in the binary newsgroups, I was told to
try Munpack. Unfortunately, it won't allow you to directly view the
text of a message, but writes it to a different file. It is a MUCH
better decoder than the version of metamail I was using previously,
even seems to handle mime without any header info.
