High bit charcters in Yarn screens

Yarn uses various high bit box and line drawing characters in its
selections lists. This is somewhat annoying for users on double-byte
character systems such as Chinese, which uses the 8th bit to figure
out whether a character is a regular one or the first byte of a
double-byte combination. The graphics characters would be mixed up
with neighboring bytes and interpreted into strange ideographs. I
have grown now quite used to the few Chinese characters various
message tree indicating character form with each other, but the
vertical lines in the FROM column make it very hard to read authors
who sign in Chinese characters, and to the status letter to the right
of the this column. I now use a preprocessing batch file to change
attach periods before names in the header to separate them from the
vertical line on the left, but this is slow and not thorough. Are
there users from other languages having similar problems? Is there
any way to patch the yarnx.exe to replace these high bit characters
with homelier ones ("." "-" "|" etc)? I'm prepared to use DEBUG to
find the locations if only I knew the patterns to look for. Anyone
can help me?
