I got the same error last week, using Yarn95 (0.92), after running
"expire -r". Then, when I ran "rebuild -s" right after that, I got the
following error message:

Rebuilding spool file D:\YARN\news.dat
Article at offset 1476532 has size 1081368914. Skipped 1859 bytes.

As I recall, I then ran "expire -o". Since then, I haven't had the
problem. However, I would still like to know how and/or why it
happens.
