Yes, that only affects your local Yarn .newsrc. To unsubscribe and
stop downloading, you must edit the remote .newsrc file.

They'll still be added to the spool file(s), you just don't see
them. If there's more than one person using that computer, he or
she might be subscribed to that group, so he or she could still read
the group.
