At least since 1994; I've been using it since the version number was
around 0.57 or so.

Reminds me, I have to add some new version-numbered icons to my Yarn
page. Shall I include one for 1.0 yet, Chin? ;-)

And I once heard it stood for "Yet Another RN", as well as being a
pun on the notion of "thread." But only Chin knows for certain.
