When I run yarn in a windowed OS/2 session, it is usually a standard
80 column window, which can cause some messages to break unevenly making
them very hard to read. The problem is that the window is way too SMALL.
Lynx/2 lets you set the size of the OS/2 windowed session to an arbitrary
size, so I use settings that make the window LARGER. When I quit
Lynx/2, the window remains the larger size.
Immediately running yarn is a wonderful experience! With the larger
window giving me the equivalent of 50 lines and 95 columns of text,
that means no more ugly text wrapping problem and a lot less scrolling.
My problem is that calling the FTE editor during message composition
SHRINKS the window back to the original small size . When the yarn
screen returns, it still wants to take the real estate of the larger
window it originally started with but is displayed in a window 2/3rds
the size of the larger window.
I tried to change the size settings in FTE, which does let one enlarge
the window size, but when I set the FTE window settings LARGER than the
default OS/2 window an error results. I am sure the error is due to the
larger window FTE is asking for.
I tried to use Presentation Manager version of FTE, FTEPM, which can
also be set to a larger window size but the only way I can invoke FTEPM
is through a command shell rather than directly. The result of using
FTEPM is that when I try to compose a message everything works well until
I save and return to yarn. All that I end up with is a message with
correct headers but with a blank message body.
My questions are: Is there [or will there be] a way to make the default
window BIGGER like Lynx/2 lets you do? If not, is there a way to prevent
FTE from messing up the larger window size? Has anyone gotten FTEPM to work
with yarn and yep?
If this is an OS/2 issue, I apologize in advance. If that is case, I would
appreciate pointers to any useful information that might help me out.
TIA,
Ben Alcala
