The solution to a similar problem here was to remove the 'a' parameter
from the soupRcvNews line in YARNIO.SET. I just changed it from
soupProg '-Mma ... etc' (as in the provided script v1.2.5) to -Mm only,
on the theory that the reason the thing would not shut down immediately
after a news download was that it was loyally doing the bidding of the
'a' parameter and going on to search for new newsgroups before closing
the connection. Whatever, without the 'a' the connection is dropped
and the logout script runs promptly .....
(The only thing I had to do to the logout script itself was change the
drive letter in the dialer line (the comPort setting was already OK)).
