My Junk newsgroup is set for: keep = 1 Max-keep = 2.
(The latter is just an experiment, it used to be unspecified but
changing it made no difference).
Day by day Junk keeps growing.
If I run: Expire -o junk, nothing happens. That is to say, it goes
through the motions and then tells me that 0 messages were expired.
Only if I run: Expire -r junk, will it expire the Junk files.
When I do this though, it also expires some files in other groups. I
assume that these are somehow linked to the ones in the Junk group, but
I'm surprised that they get deleted from a group that was not explicitly
named. E.g. the last time I did this, it expired, as I recall, (I was
going to say "from memory"), about the same number of files from
comp.os.os2.misc.
If I run: Expire -o, it goes through the expiry routine for all my
groups and expires the old files, but still leaves all my Junk files
untouched.
I can't say whether it has always done this. It is only in the last
month or two that I have started receiving large amounts of junk
(usually from the thread: "Console vs PC"), and have thus become aware
of the problem.
I have been using Yarn for a couple of years or so and have stuck with
version .089 because I'm very happy with it, with the exception of not
being able to DELETE unwanted articles. I understand that even the
newest versions don't do that.
Is my problem unique? Is there anything I can do about it?
A Happy New Year to all!
Peter
