This is all described on pages 8 and 9 in the ENGLISH.DOC text file that
should have been included in the ZIP file containing your copy of Yarn,
but I'll try to answer the questions anyway.
For a global score file in Yarn, hit the "E" (capital E) key from the
newsgroup list display, and Yarn should toss you into the editor so you
can create a score file. Hit "E" while reading a specific newsgroup to
create/edit a newsgroup-specific score file (I don't use those).
The global score file is saved in the as a file called GLOBAL in the
%HOME%/YARN/SCORES subdirectory (where %HOME% is your Yarn account's
defined HOME directory). I forget if you have to create it manually
initially or not...?
Anyway, I would define the above score file in the following manner:
# The SCORE file for PC Yarn .89
# Format is: <points> <where> <string>
10 From: joe@someisp.com
-5 Subject: Netscape
-5 Body Netscape
Actually, in this case if both of the last conditions are true (the word
"Netscape" is in both the Subject header and the message body), the score
of the message will be -10 for most people, but 0 (zero) for my mythical
friend at joe@someisp.com. Works out just as I wanted. :-)

Yarn defaults to that behavior. To change the visibility threshold, use
this setting in the appropriate score file:
killthreshold n
where n is the number you wish to be the new threshold below which all
postings are marked as "already read".
