SOUPER: newsauth doesn't work

Hi -- new poster to the list here.

I'm trying to use Souper/Yarn for OS/2 with a service I work for,
Dueling Modems. We operate a news server at news.dm.net. Right now
it's mostly open, but we're going to be restricting most of the groups
soon.

I have a valid password and account on the news box. I can use slrn,
for instance, and everything works.

When I try to use Souper, the "private" groups on the server are
completely invisible. I have rights on the server, and if I telnet in
and check the news logs, I can see that Souper isn't even attempting
to log in. (For news types, let me explicate: the news.notice file
ordinarily records all AUTHINFO attempts, successful or failed. In
this case, nothing at all is recorded, so Souper isn't even trying.)

What's up? I'm running version 1.6 beta 6, as I recall. I thought
I'd try the list before harassing Chin Huang personally -- I hate to
bother the guy when he's turned out such wonderful software free.

And on that note: does anyone know of a way to get uqwk to recognize
AUTHINFO commands? It's a long shot, but it would be nice.

Thanks in advance for any help.
