Do you mean that the AREAS file is also being deleted? Is only one
file is being left in the incoming directory?

I assume that you're using Windows 3.1. What is the "FILES=" setting in
your config.sys file? Try increasing it. If you don't have a "FILES="
line, add "FILES=30" to your config.sys file.

I notice that you also have a question about score files. I would
suggest disabling the score file by renaming it until you know that
Souper is properly downloading all articles.

Check to see if the newsrc file is being updated.

Using this score file, for the groups "no.religion" and "no.general",
Souper will only download articles that contain the word "Christ" in
the subject.

Since the initial score of each article starts at zero and you have a
killthreshold for no.religion and no.general specified as +1, all
articles that do not match at least one rule will be killed.

I don't think this does what you think it does. Souper will interpret
this to look for the word "Christ" in the header line named "Body:".
I assume what you want it to do is to download any articles with the
word Christ in the body of the article. In Souper the score file
rules only apply to the headers.

Let me know if you have any other questions,
