The best solution to this is to mark the whole newsgroup as read,
expire -r the messages (else you'll have messages in your database
not in your history file), rmgroup the newsgroup, then run
newgrp 7 31 <address>. An easier solution would be to edit the active
file and add the address, but you said you've already done this.
Either way you should wind up with a line like this:

yarn.list ylist.0 7 31 yarn-list@lists.colorado.edu
