I cannot give you the details of the solution but I can give
you an outline (Assuming I understand your problem - never a
sure thing). (I lost my copies of the key files about six
months ago when I lost my hard disk)

At Chin's web site there are a bunch of Utilities. One of
them has a name something like YUTIL04 (or maybe 03). They
were written by a German fellow about a year ago, who is sadly
no longer in our elect group.

One of the programs in that package will take a preSOUP package
as downloaded from your UNIX site and convert it into a soup
package of a form that can be digested by chin's import
program.

Note that there are about ten utilities in the package and it
will take you awhile to figure out which one is the one that
does the job. Great programs, lossy docs.

PS. I think addlines.exe is in the package. Try it, I think
you'll like it.
