regular expressions

Since several of the questions posed in my Sunday post to this list were
not addressed, I wish to reiterate one of them. Please would someone
write me a paragraph explaining in English how to use regular expressions
in search strings?
If I understand the concept correctly, one can use the filter program to
delete any messagecontaining such a string in the specified field. I wish
to delete any messages which contain the words radio watch in the subject
line, regardless of what other words may appear in the subject line.
