Edit subject of Message in Folder

Can the subject of a message in a folder be edited?

I use Lynx to mail documents from web sites to myself.
These documents often have subject lines that are just a mess of
characters used to identify the document to the web site. When I save
such documents in a folder, I would like to be able to give the document
a title that is meaningful to me.
