You're right about that. But what should one do, if the global topic
'scoring' changes to some more or less let's say VSoup specific?
Should one change the subject or not? Are only people interested in
VSoup interested in that article or not? Should one write into the
Subject something like 're: original topic [contains also stuff about
VSoup/Souper15/uqwk]'? (hey, what about a Keyword: header line?)

Those are questions which can be answered individually and based on
article only. Thus filtering the messages will not always be
successful if a thread develops.

This mailing lists has not such a heavy load. So fast browsing
through the articles is not such a big deal. For me personally it's
fun most of the time to read articles from people interested in the
same stuff like I do - even if they are writing about W95, uqwk or
AOL...
