custom path for news.dat file?

Is there a way to specify where the news.dat file goes?
I have two logical drives on my laptop:
c:
d:

c: is almost always full because of my email.
sometimes I can't import new mail or news because
I am low on disk space.

What I want to do is put my news on drive d:. Is this
custom configurable?
