Others suggest shuffling "config" files. I used to do that myself ...
quite elaborately. But it has it's limitations and can be quite
annoying in some ways (ie. once you start Yarn you are stuck with
that one config file whatever it might be).
Looks like no one else is gonna mention it so i might as well once
again... there is an add on for YARN which does this. It is called
YARF and it can be got from http://www.vex.net/~x/bells2.phtml#yarf
I also wanted to put off mentioning it becuase i'm currently testing
(new) version 1.5 which adds user configurable random elements
(including random strings, not just characters), and also allows the
user to move the ugly space padding (for those who know what i'm
talking about) to a different header more out of the way...
Now i will have to post twice (the horror!) -- this message, and a
seperate announcement when i finally let version 1.5 out of it's
cage... (-;
The From field on this very message is generated by Yarf 1.5 here...
Yarf can be configured to have a different address/name for every
newsgroup, or recipient... etc etc... I don't like to post my address
to this list because it's archived on the web. <-: I'm paranoid... and
also i'm just annoying. (-:
However i will say that adding "antispam" or any other very
identifiable and common string like that is not much protection. So
many people are doing it now i'd be suprised if spammers don't just
simply run addresses through a filter to remove such common, known,
strings. But who knows.... who knows what goes through the crusty
puss-filled organ that spammers use for "thinking"...
