Well, the response to the poster suggesting the format in the
C++ notation above seemed to imply that he was going to try creating
a file with the literal characters "NEWS\tnews\tu\n" in it. That is
not what was meant; the \t and \n are C(++) notation for "tab character"
and "newline character" respectively.

My response was an attempt to clarify this.
