Disclaimer: If what i write below is a FAQ, please send me an
"RTFM and shut the hell up" message... privately ;)
Now - what's my problem: since I've just started using Yarn, I
need to import some messages from my old mail program. They're all in
a nice unix-mailbox format, but the import program won't accept them.
No matter what the file contains, import creates two messages - one
with several header lines and no body, the other with body and all
other mail messages. Is it a (reported?) bug or are my unix-mailboxes
not as unix as I think? (I had the same problem when I used copies of
my /var/spool/mail/_me_ file for tests ;)
Several other observations of which I don't know whether
they're bugs or effects of NotRTFM:
Let's assume I reply to a posting with ISO-8859-1 in header.
There are pretty many people in Poland who don't care to configure
their news programs properly, you know, yet use native characters. My
reader is configured for ISO-8859-2 (only!), and that's the charset I
use (more specificaly DOS CP-852, to which Yarn converts ISO-8859-2).
But in the case described above, not only it converts characters from
8859-1 to CP-850, but also converts my beautiful CP-852 Polish chars
back to ISO-8859-1, changing them into a total mess. Help! ;) Is there
a way to force Yarn treat _all_ the messages as if they were written
in ISO-8859-2? Or do I have to disable this feature (HOW?) and add one
more program to the Yarn-Yes-Vim chain, which would do all the
conversions properly?
And one more thing - is crossposting expected to be added in
nearest future? Sometimes it's SO useful and I'm so tired saving an
article and then resending it from a folder... no... ;) I'm not an
alt.binaries.pictures.show.me.your.tits maniac ;) Just like to resend
the good jokes I find on usenet to a group created specially for this
purpose ;)
OK, one more thing ;) I'm using uqwk to prepare soup packets.
It's working fine under AIX, but crashes under LINUX, where I'd
actually like to have it ;) I've noticed it crahes when there is no
mail in inbox yet I try to gen new mail and (or) when - preparing news
packet - it encounters bad overview records (I'm using nntp version).
This happens... quite often... but this news-server is pretty good and
reliable, so I'd like to use it. Anyway - the AIX version neither
crashes nor looses any articles so I wonder - what's the point here?
Anyone having the same problem? Anyone not having the problem any
more? ;) I'll be really grateful for any kind of help...
