Don't knkow anything about epm, so can't compare to that, but...
For starters, about any DOS editor program will run fine in a DOS box under
Win95. We're using a program call VDE, which is a very compact (all
assembly language), reasonably powerful text editor/word processor with a
WordStar-ish sort of interface and a fairly powerful macro capability. It's
shareware, but with pretty liberal licensing, as I recall. Another
excellent DOS editor is call the Thompson-Davis Editor, which is freeware,
very powerful, and also has an acceptable macro capability.
For Windows text editors, you might want to look into Programmer's File
Editor (PFE), which despite the name is acceptable for the sort of simple
word processing typically done in writing e-mail and USENET messages.
