Ah, I see I hit a FAQ with that question. :) I knew that answer, I
think, but forgot that I knew it. I thought, for some reason, that
expiring an article also deleted it. Ok.

I've had trouble running rebuild for some reason. It seems that every
time I try, it ends up either hosing my news.dat or not doing anything
at all. So, I avoid it now.
