This is my first time posting to this list... so hi there :)
I have been using yarn for a couple of years now and like it very
much. However one thing worries me and that is the lack of
development of the product.
I have seen several threads on this list discussing the availablity
of yarns source code(or lack thereof) and as far as I know the
source code is still not available. So anyway I was thinking the
other day(always dangerous) that the development of a core yarn
API would be a good thing. By yarn API I mean a core
library(probably written in C for portability) that performs all
the low level yarn functionality. Is anything like this being done
in the Yarn community ? If not is it something that is worth doing
?
If it is worth doing I would be interested in developing such a
library(with whatever help I can get :).
Obviously it would be good to actually get the orig Yarn source
code to build such a library, but once done the library could be
used to develop Linux Yarn(my particular "Yarn Dream"(TM)) or
windowed OS/2 and NT version.
I look forward to anyones comments on this subject.
Cheers,
Ciaran
