Because it present news/mail text in a nice large 80x24 format (or in
whatever mode you're in), which I find causes less eye strain over time,
and because it uses well-defined keystroke commands instead of being so
dependent on the mouse.

I like slrn for much the same reasons, though I prefer Yarn.
