Friends:

A week ago I asked on this list:

I solved my problem with the help of a lister who responded
privately, and who will therefore remain anonymous.

Its very simple:

Use Unfolder (part of the yarn utilities) to do the conversion. Nothing
else is needed.

The special instruction is to modify the [Unfolder] section
of the YARNUTIL.INI file (included in the yarn utilities package) as
follows

------------ cut here ----------------
[UnFolder]
MessageSep="From - Message Nr.%[msgnr]"
------------ cut here ----------------

The Message Separator in a Unix mailbox is a line starting with "From -"
The content of the rest of the line is unimportant.

The [Unfolder] section also includes a number of 'Include =' lines to
customize the header lines that are converted.
The default .INI file enables the change in the strings used in the
headers. I changed these back so that the headers don't change, but this
may not be critical.

I figured out the required format for the Unix mailbox by looking at one,
and by reading a description in the Soup File definition.

With Yarnutil.ini modified, run unfolder as follows:

unfolder [YarnFolderName] [UnixMailbox

The yarn utilities are at
http://www.vex.net/yarn/archive/yutil04.zip

The soup format definition can be found at

Hope this helps someone else.
