As I recall, the SOUP specification states the message size should be
encoded as the first four bytes at the beginning of the message. The
SOUP specification is in a file called "soup.zip" or something similar
to that. You should be able to find it fairly easily at
ftp://ftp.uwasa.fi. If you cannot, I think I have it around here
somewhere, but it will have to wait until I get back in a few days.
