Yes, I've now had some success with this method, and managed to
delete of quite a lot of articles. However some strange things
happen. Some of the groups don't get added to the list when I run
NEWGROUP, and some of the articles pop-up in the JUNK group. I think
I probably get better results, deleting one group at a time, but it's
getting a bit tedious!

Unfortunately I need to keep some of the groups, although I'm tempted
to delete the lot, and start again.
