VSoup95 password error message

I'm trying VSoup95 (looks nice, kudos Hardy!), and getting a password
error from the ISP on downloads, but mail gets downloaded anyway:
(sm & gm are simple batch files to save typing the command line)

u:\vsoupn>sm
pkunzip -o yarn.rep
Searching ZIP: YARN.REP
Extracting: REPLIES
Inflating: MAIL.MSG
vsoup -s -r -n -m -h u:\vsoupn smtp://rex:mypassword@mail.ptw.com
VSOUP.EXE: connected to smtp gateway mail.ptw.com
VSOUP.EXE: mailing from rex@ptw.com
VSOUP.EXE: mailing to rex@ptw.com
VSOUP.EXE: totally 322 bytes received, 301 bytes transmitted
VSOUP.EXE: 108.4s elapsed, throughput 5 bytes/s

u:\vsoupn>gm
vsoup -r -n -h u:\vsoupn pop3://rex:mypassword@mail.ptw.com
VSOUP.EXE: connected to pop3 server mail.ptw.com
VSOUP.EXE: cucipop: Invalid password or username (check case)
VSOUP.EXE: APOP autentication failed, retrying without
VSOUP.EXE: you have 4 mail messages
VSOUP.EXE: totally 9109 bytes received, 106 bytes transmitted
VSOUP.EXE: 237.3s elapsed, throughput 38 bytes/s

The password is correct, including case, and works without error with
Souper95. Anyone got any ideas? Hardy?

BTW, the ISP has been having very slow mail lately with Souper95. I don't
think the dismal transfer rates have anything to do with VSoup.

Thanks,
