Mainly the newsrc file. There's also a newstime file, and possibly a
score file. Maybe other stuff.

In my case, it's the same variable, but I set it to a different value
before I call each program. The locations are different in my case.

Yes.

Yeah, I think that's what it's for. That way, you can set HOME to the
Yarn directory and just use the -h option to specify to VSoup where it
can find its stuff.
