VSoup/2 and emxfix01

Dear 'VSoup for OS/2' users,

Pat Shanah dropped me sometime a note (effectivly it was more than
one), that his VSoup was broken.

Nothing very astonishing, but unfortunately it turned out, that the
cause of his problem was the upgrade of the emx runtimes with emxfix01
(emxlibcm.dll and emxlibcs.dll will show revision 61).

Ironically the reason for the failure was a bug in scanf() that I
reported to Eberhard Mattes sometime ago...

I've fixed the bug/feature/misuse of scanf() and uploaded a new VSoup
beta to my homepage (VSoup1.2.9.38Beta).

Two things to say:

- I'm inviting you to download this version and (beta) test it. Bug
reports (or even better: positive feedback) is welcome. If this
version (or a successor) will be stable I will make a new release
(latest release was VSoup1.2.8, 19-Apr-97 - so it's time) because I
think the problem is serious enough for one.

This implies, that there will be also an official VSoup95/98/NT
release, although documentation will not be updated accordingly.

- be warned: if you like/have to upgrade the emx runtimes, you also
have to upgrade VSoup (at least if you like to continue VSoup
usage...).

VSoup95/98/NT is not affected, thus there is no real necessity to
download the newest beta.

Wishes and so on

Hardy
