Hello Hardy,
I though I had come across that last night but it was another error - I
posted to Prestel.test rather than prestel.test and it didn't like the
upper case 'P'. I took me some time to realize this.
I then struck me that if news.msg contained one message to a local
Prestel news group and one message to a local Freeserve newsgroup, the
news.msg file would never be removed.
But in this instance, this is not the case. I cannot post into the
Prestel newserver whilst dialing into Freeserve ("502 no permission to
talk" error). But messages to prestel.test were being posted. So I
removed all references to the Prestel news server and discovered that I
can post articles into the Prestel.test newsgroup on the Freeserve news
server.
So, not knowing very much about these things, I am assuming that both
news servers are the same one under different names?
So, although I haven't achieved a generic solution, I have a working
solution to evaluate Freeserve, with one set of Rexx programs for both
ISP's, a single newsbase, a single "out" directory for each Yarn user
and I can read my Prestel mailboxes whilst dialing into Freeserve. I
don't think I'll attempt to see if I can use just one newsrc for both
servers though and will get different newsgroups from each. This is not
ideal but will have to do.
Many thanks for Vsoup.
