Thanks, but I downloaded a Freeserve newgroup list a few minutes ago.
It is very easy with Vsoup - I just put a -a in the Vsoup command line
in my Rexx cmd file.

I have two separate "in" directories with separate newsrc files because
I want to try out Freeserve. I'll try different newgroups but, at the
moment, I've got a couple of newsgroups that are set up in both and the
duplicate are rejected at the Yarn import stage. I don't download
enough to worry about the cost of duplicate downloading for a short
period.
