And what utility was that? Remember Steven wants (I think) to
automatically strip quote symbols before the message is presented to
him, not during the reply process.

Ideally, his voice software would ignore quote symbols at the beginning
of a line. That way, his replies would still have the appropriate
level of quoting for people who use the symbols to keep track of
who the writer of a paragraph was.
