Help with NNTP on new "virtual ISP"

I use Yarn 0.92 for OS/2, and VSoup 1.2.8 to retrieve news. I have
recently opened an account at a "virtual ISP." I'm not quite sure what
they think they actually mean by that, but part of it is that my userid
contain the ISP name, i.e. "quilty@spire.com". The whole thing is my
login name... and also my account name for NNTP authentication.

This makes it REALLY hard to retrieve news. Issuing the command:

vsoup.exe -m nntp://quilty:MYPASSWORD@news.spire.com

Gets my an authentication failure (because 'quilty' is not my whole
username). OTOH, using:

vsoup.exe -m nntp://quilty@spire.com:MYPASSWORD@news.spire.com

also does not work, because the first '@' convinced VSOUP to start
looking for the news host.

The VSOUP documentation seems to be pretty sketchy on exactly how VSOUP
might pick up the USERID/PASSWORD from "PPP Setup". I'd love to change
some setup to have this info, but I don't know where to look. I also
made a futile attempt at setting environment variables, on the hope this
might send the information.

Does anyone know how I might get my newsfeed on this ISP?

Yours, Lulu...

P.S. I can get the newsfeed using Netscape 4.61... but that is obviously
a bad way to have to do it on a regular basis.
