Lately, though, I've begun knitting.
I finished my first sweater right before Christmas, and now I get to actually
wear it. That was a luxury I was never afforded from crocheting. I'm still
a new knitter, having only learned within the past five months, but since I
didn't teach myself I had begun feeling as though I had to follow instructions
in order to create anything.
Not any more. Wednesday night I went to a meeting of the Toronto Knitting Guild
where a professional knitter (as professional as you can get, I suppose) gave
a presentation on how to submit your original creations to magazines. Thus
inspired, I'm working on my first pattern based on a background image at
Jeffrey Zeldman's site. I hope it works.
Enough rambling, go on to my
pages.
When I was a very little girl my mother used to crochet afghans, and by watching
her I learned how to do it. I'd crochet parts of blankets before I lost interest,
or clothes for my Cabbage Patch Doll (yes, I had one), but since crocheting
wasn't very practical I was never inspired to do more with it.
