There's really not much that has to be done. Mostly verifying the
correct paths to sendmail, inews and the mail spool between lines 24
and 38 of uqwk.h. Use the which or whence commands at the shell prompt
to find them:
which sendmail
which inews
or just cd to the directories specified in uqwk.h to see if the files
are there. If you're using a QWK reader (bleah), you should edit the
lines 56 to 62 to reflect the local setup. These have no effect if
you're using the SOUP packet format. You also need to check for the
presence of the /usr/lib/news/active file.
Otherwise just compile the correct version of uqwk, either local or
nntp, depending on the news server arrangement at your isp. If you
compile the nntp version, make sure the NNTPSERVER environment variable
is set to the name of the news server either globally or in your personal
login file (.profile, .cshrc, or whatever).
Finally, you should get a copy of OLMenu from one of the SimTel sites
(in /msdos/offline/olmnuxxx.zip) to provide a menu-based interface for
uqwk. It makes life a lot easier. If you have trouble finding OLMenu,
let me know and I'll e-mail you the latest version.
