No problem or question today, but I wanted to let you know my last
week's adventures.
Some time ago I wrote here, that I miss a comfortable way in Yarn/2 for
reading/seeing threads. So, I decided to try a different tool: CHANGI.
It took me quite a while (better: three days!), to get CHANGI work with
my news-server (lack in documentation, problem with server commands,
etc.). Finally I made it, and had all my ~20 groups "mirrored" on my
disk.
So, which reader to use? I've a copy of NeoLogic News. Didn't work
fine, had problems with building threads (!! <seg> even article without
reference were shown within a different thread) and no chance of REPLY.
Next try: NR/2. Hadn't problems with building threads (LOL!), could
even use REPLY (but didn't find out, how to configure SENDMAIL to work
with NR/2 and CHANGI).
Next try: SLNR. Oh nice. Can show real threads, had even a detailed
information, how to set up SENDMAIL. It's a text-mode program, too.
Reaching this point, I discovered that I could a) stay with YARN &
Souper (+ maintain ONE file for newsgroups + news/mail in one tool, but
- no threads!) or b) use CHANGI & SNLR & SENDMAIL & Mailer (+ real
threads, but - four different setups to maintain).
So, guess, what my choice was <g>.
But Chin, (are you reading?) please give me better thread
display/handling in Yarn/2.
Have a nice week!!
