I suspect the problem is the fact that the order of the elements in the
message header isn't fixed. Or I don't think it is? And unless you
explicitly specify a list to include (instead of a list to exclude), a
number of other uncommon/nonstandard headers could be inserted at any
point.

I just color-code the Subject, From, and Newsgroups headers so they
stand out glaringly. That helps some.
