Cameron Diaz - Actress Extraordinaire
Cameron Diaz was born on August 30, 1972
(Year of the Rat)
in San Diego, California,
hometown of model Vanessa
Gleason. Daughter of a Cuban-American father and a
German-English-Native American mother, the blue-eyed blonde moved to
Long Beach where she went to high school. The tall skinny girl earned
the nickname, "Skeletor." She grew up thinking she wanted to become a
zoologist, but it was a chance meeting with a photographer that led to a
modeling job for Teen magazine. After graduating from high school,
Cameron went to work in Japan with a companion model to advance her
intended new career. As the years went by, Cameron acquired more
lucrative modeling contracts and attended photo shoots around the world,
posing in fashion magazines, catalogues, and commercials for Calvin
Klein, Levi's, Coca Cola, and Nivea.
By accident, on seeing a movie script lying on the desk of her TV ad agent, Cameron Diaz asked to pursue a role in the project. Her agent agreed and set her up for an audition for the Jim Carey film, "The Mask." After a dozen auditions, she captured the job for which she had no prior training. Hard work and preparations made her debut appearance sufficiently successful that at the next year's ShoWest Awards, she was voted "Female Star of Tomorrow". Aware that she had fallen into acting, she decided it was time to get the training she desperately needed. Cameron immersed herself in projects that would rapidly add to her experience. She was able to capture roles in a number of significant films including "She's The One," "The Brothers McMullen," and "Saving Private Ryan." A series of less exciting roles were eventually followed by "My Best Friend's Wedding," which proved to be an immense hit, her comedic efforts well-received by both critics and audiences. This was followed-up by the hilarious classic, "There's Something About Mary," alongside Ben Stiller and Matt Dillon, for which she received a Golden Globe nomination. Since then she has found notable acting projects that have included the voice of Princess Fiona in the hit cartoon movie, "Shrek," the historical "Gangs of New York," alongside Leonardo DiCaprio, and the commercial success of "Charlies's Angels: Full Throttle." The comedic actress and model is a favorite of young men everywhere; they can be found pouring over each new Cameron Diaz gallery, for the latest Cameron Diaz pics, or studying the latest updates to the ongoing Cameron Diaz biography in anticipation of upcoming projects. .15hqqv.
