Yugioh Cards - Double Duel study progression

Having won enough Locator Cards to enter the finals, Joey phones his sister to tell her the good news. Excited, Serenity is proud of her brother and tells him she wants to accompany him to finals so that she can see him duel. Joey is thrilled to hear news, but as he hangs up he realizes that if he goes to pick up Serenity, he could be late to get a place in the finals. Eager to assist, and also to accompany Serenity, Tristan offers to go and pick her up for him, so he starts out for the hospital before Joey can disagree.

Learning that Joey is in danger, Yugi frantically searches for his friends when he is interrupted by two Rare Hunters. While Yugi doesn't want to waste time dealing with the guys, the two of them are too busy arguing over who will duel Yugi first to actually duel him. As Yugi demands that one of them duel him, Kaiba arrives and offers that they could fight a tag team duel, not because he wants to help Yugi but because he wants to crush the others.

With Yugi trapped within the Nightmare Cage for two turns, there is nothing he can do to prevent Marik from summoning Slifer the Sky Dragon, especially as Yugi is sure that Marik already has it in his hand ready to summon it on his next turn. But as the duelist frantically seeks a way out of the situation, KaibaCorp's computers are still scanning all of the Duel Disk systems for any signs of the God cards. Although their attempts have proven unsuccessful so far, they do not realize that will soon change.

With the Sky Dragon, Slifer, bearing down on him, there seems little chance that Yugi will be able to defeat Marik, however even so Yugi is determined not to give up now that Kaiba has arrived. Yugi is not the only one pleased to see Kaiba, Marik is also pleased to see that the holder of the third God card has saved him the trouble of having to hunt Kaiba down.

As "Dual Duel" resumes, Lumis ends Yugi's means of attack by playing Mask of the Accursed (Magic), preventing Yugi's Magnet Warrior from entering combat. But, while the inability to attack is bad, Lumis is content to tell Yugi that the card will cost Yugi 500 Life Points every turn. As Lumis sets one card and ends his turn, Yugi realizes that Lumis is specializing in Magic and Trap cards and Umbra is focusing on Monster cards.

Having managed to summon the Blue-Eyes White Dragon, even though effect of Mask of Restrict, Yugi and Kaiba look like they might have a chance to win. But, while Umbra and Lumis are shocked to see that Yugi and Kaiba worked together to summon the monster, Kaiba's monster is still weaker than Masked Beast. As Kaiba's turn continues, Yugi tells his partner to attack despite what looks like disadvantage.

As Lumis prepares to attack with new Masked Monster, Yugi and Kaiba are both anxious to know which one he will decide to attack. Lumis wants to attack Yugi, but Umbra tries to convince him he should destroy Kaiba's Blue-Eyes first. When Lumis refuses, Kaiba agrees with opponent, challenging Lumis to dare to attack his Dragon. Taking the bait, Lumis destroys Kaiba's dragon, thereby allowing Yugi's turn to begin.

As the initial duels continue throughout Domino, the normal residents are starting to get anxious that all roads have been blocked off. But as one driver tries to force his way through the dueling masses, a policeman asks him to back up, saying that the whole city is under control of Seto Kaiba for the duration of the tournament and that the roads are off limits to cars.
