In the cartoon art field, the art of Japanese anime has been leading the
way, especially in the dominant category of cross-over art, Yu-gi-oh,
being an art form that promotes itself through television home art
cartooning, memorabilia productioning in the supportive card
collectibles, and finally in games and magazines. Even the anime form
has a cross-over function felt by other topics such as Pokemon, Dragon
Ball Z, and an infinite array of others. But we cannot forget the
foundations including Mickey Mouse, the superheroes, and Looney Tunes.
Model art also exposes itself through the cross-over forms,
dominated more by true photography, rather than animation, and the
memorabilia will be in the form of movies, DVDs, calendars, and all
photo arts, including autographs and digital collections. Fifty
years ago, this was presented as "cheesecake" or pin-up art, the
only difference being new subjects due to the aging of the older
subjects, where animation art, projects subjects that are enduring
and timeless, such as those of the heroic category, for example
Batman, Wonder Woman, Superman. As the real models age, newer
younger models replace them. The popular art has a much broader fan
base because the subjects are desirable to both male and female
equally, whereas, the model art is dominantly a male field.
