Rebecca Cartwright - Bec Hewitt
Rebecca June Cartwright was born July 23, 1983 in Sydney, Australia, where
she has lived most of her life. She first performed before an audience
when she was only three, moving on to catalogue modeling, and later doing
voice-overs for a variety of corporations. After appearing in many
television commercials, her first being My Little Pony for American
television, she advanced to her first acting role was in 1992, at age 9,
in Police Rescue. Her first serious role came in 1999 when she landed a
spot in the soap opera, "Home and Away" as Hayley Smith. That year she
was nominated for a Silver Logie for Most Popular New Talent. The
soap has produced many fine artists over the years, including
Rebekah
Elmaloglou. Five years
later, in 2004, she entered a television dancing competition, the
Australian version of "Dancing with the Stars," and took top honors. In
2002, Big Hit magazine's Reader Poll voted her sixth Favorite Star in the
World, Second Best Female Star, and Fifth Hottest Female Celebrity. She
has also since been voted FHM's sexiest woman in Australia.
The star is an athletic standout in her off-time, including among her hobbies: ice skating, roller skating, horse riding, swimming, acrobatics and aerobics. After marrying a tennis star, Lleyton Hewitt, Rebecca moved to Palm Beach where the series "Home and Away" is filmed. Now known as by her married name, Bec Hewitt, the young star was able to enter the popular music area, recording with Warner Music in 2002.
