When the brother and sister team of Richard and Karen Carpenter gives a concert here tonight, a group of children from Seymour Elementary School will be on stage with them.
The 16 sixth graders were asked to join the two performers with Sing a song they will include in their concert at 8:30 at the War Memorial.
Under the direction of Mrs. Linda Roakes, music teacher, the students have been rehearsing with a recording for the past month.
The children are Earl Hyde, Harry Lyon, Ricky Davis, Terri Fulton, Michele Lewis, April Thompson, Sandra Robinson, Christine Harris, John Gardner, Anthony Davis, James Jackson, Derrick McGlown, Michele Stokes, Lester LaFramboise, Sara Montgonery and Kathy Scott.
Note from Patty (who was in the audience): These kids were scared stiff when they filed out on stage -- and flat as pancakes!!!!! Karen was so great with them --- she smiled, laughed, and tried to get them to feel comfortable. You should have seen the look on her face when they started their part (flat as can be) She smiled - and held her mike so each of the kids could be heard fora few seconds. It was so cute!!
